Man injured in Sun City West wheelchair crash
Emergency crews responded Tuesday afternoon to the scene of a collision involving a man in a motorized wheelchair in Sun City West, officials said.
The 89-year-old man was in the wheelchair in the intersection of North Echo Mesa Drive and West Greenview Drive shortly after noon Tuesday when he was struck by a white Buick, according to Doug Matteson, a spokesman for the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
The man was flown by helicopter to St. Joseph's Hospital in critical condition, but his injuries were not life-threatening, Matteson said.
The cause of the crash was still unknown as of Wednesday morning, the spokesman said.
